Know what your document requires.
Ask the issuer or your attorney for the correct notarial act, certificate, and any witness requirements. A notary cannot choose legal documents for you.
Have your identification ready.
Have a qualifying government-issued ID or passport ready. Identification must meet Colorado notary requirements. Certain recently expired IDs may qualify; discuss an expired ID or a name difference with Joanna before your appointment.
Prepare the complete record.
Have your original documents ready for notarization, including every page. Follow the issuer’s completion instructions, address blank fields, and keep the complete record accessible throughout the appointment.
Wait for signing instructions.
Please wait to sign until instructed by your notary. Some notarial acts require signing in the notary’s presence. Tell Joanna if a signature is already on the document.
Coordinate the people and place.
Have all required signers present for the appointment. Confirm any witnesses, entry permissions, and a usable signing surface. Let Joanna know about communication or accessibility needs.
Confirm the quote and time.
Review the appointment details and itemized fees. Allow time for the required identification and notarial steps.
Joining a remote online appointment?
Additional identity verification is required for remote online notarization. Ask Joanna for the platform’s instructions, identification requirements, and technology checks before your session. Have the electronic documents and all required participants ready, and wait for signing instructions.
